The study was carried out by Dr. Baue E. Sumpio and his associates at the School of Medicine of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and concluded that the high content of tea in catechins and anti-oxidants is helpful.

The paradox becomes clearer when analyzing the global health statistics. 348 of 100,000 male Americans die every year of lung disease. The respective figure for male Japanese is 186, even though the smoking rates are much higher.

According to laboratory research, the EGCGs and other anti-oxidants found in green tea may block the formation or development of tumors in several cases. According to researchers, this may explain why lung cancer death rates in Korea are surprisingly low.

The lung cancer death rate among Korean men is lower than 40/100,000 compared to 67/100,000 in American men. The difference in women is much higher: 13/100,000 in Korea compared to 45/100,000 in the US. And yet, the rate of adult smokers in the US is 27%, compared to 37% in Korea.

Finally, regarding the effect of tea on stimulating our psychology, many studies have shown that the thiamine it contains, as we mentioned above, has a calming effect on the brain. It lowers the heart rate and makes it easier to deal with stress. While based on scientific results, people who regularly consume tea, report less frequent symptoms of depression.
