Origin

In Greek, “sideritis” can be literally translated as “one who is made of iron.” In ancient time “siderites” plant, which resembles the shape of a spear, was renown as a remedy for battle wounds from iron weapons during battle!!!

The sideritis plant grows wild at high altitudes of sunny rocky mountains and does not need much soil or water to survive.

Because it is found mainly in the rockiest spots of mountain slopes, it is collected in small quantities.

For centuries, Greek shepherds in the mountains have been brewing sideritis for tea while tending their sheep, giving it the nickname Shepherd’s Tea.
